Postby Riley Swift » Wed Feb 29, 2012 12:32 pm

Yo Chuck!!!

Are we going to see Demos for HC? I have two armies underway Middle Anglo Saxons and Vikings in 1/72-true28mm banging shields and waiting to lob insults and clash in the shield wall!!!

It would be very exciting to get some Ancients goin at the shop!

Chuck and I played a quick "get to know the rules" game on Saturday. We made some mistakes, but we've got a pretty good idea of how things work.

I'll be more than happy to run through things with you, though I'll need to have an army provided (I don't have one of my own; for our game on Saturday, it was Chuck's old Roman Army squaring off against his GW High Elves, who temporarily thought that they were ancient Britons). I'll be at the store tonight (I'm usually there on Wednesdays with my copy of C&C Ancients), or you can set up another time to play.

hey thats awesome. Yeah like i said i have two armies Viking and Saxon. they were built around the basic DBA basing and composition. But they will work for hail ceasar. since they were originally built for DBA, I have about 12 units for each army( mainly sword and spears, with some warbands and skirmishers.). I do have Cavalry being modelled for each army which will give them 3-4 more units.

next wednesday would be awesome i'll bring my troops! and I'll give you confirmation on monday!

i've heard of hail ceasar before but never knew it included Dark Ages, I'm very stoked.

Hail Caesar is designed to work with any melee-centric army. The book of lists that's been published only covers up through about 200 AD or so, so it doesn't include any actual Dark or Middle Ages lists (there's another book coming later that will provide those lists). But there's a sample battle in HC that covers a battle between Saxons and Vikings (i.e. providing some basic unit stats) and a section at the back of the army list book that provides guidelines on figuring out points values once you know the unit stats. Between the two, you should be able to put together the basic framework of your army, and anything missing can be worked out from there.

That should cover things until the second book is published.

not fair,

Are the Roman Legions really marching. Can anyone report on the rules? Are they good? What are they like?

I won't be. I don't even get off work until 6.

:P

I think I should be able to tear myself away from Mass Effect 3 long enough to give you a game or two. Expect me there by 7pm, and possibly a little earlier.

Paul -

As I said, I played a sample game against Chuck. I suggest pigeonholing him at the store and asking any questions you have.

I watched Chuck play a game thursday, it was fairly fast paced, and seemed to be a fun looking game. Can't compare it to games like Warhammer Fantasy or LOTRFB, as I haven't played them, but it seemed pretty fun. And looks like it would be easy to get some real big battles going, and over in a rather short time frame.
