New to Pathfinder and PFS

Postby Odie » Fri Jan 20, 2012 5:52 pm

Hello all!

I've recently discovered Pathfinder, and am looking for games/groups that don't mind a player that's new to the game.

I've worked my way through the Beginner's Box, and have read through the Core Rulebook, but I really need some gameplay with some experienced players to bring all of the rules together and have it all make sense, so any info on upcoming games/campaigns would be much appreciated.

I'm also very interested in joining the Pathfinder Society, and any info on upcoming sessions for starting players would also be great to have.

A quick question about PFS -

Are the three Intro Scenarios something that I MUST play first, or is any scenario suitable for 1st level characters okay to start out with as a new player? Is anybody running these if they're needed?

Thanks,

Odie

Odie,

It's not necessary to play through those three introductory scenarios in order to play PFS; since all characters start out at 1st level in PFS, you will be able to join in any of the Tier 1-2 (1st to 2nd level) scenarios offered- in the case of this coming February 4th, any of the Shades of Ice ones would be suitable for you.

In order to get started in PFS, you may want to check out the link below:

A guide to playing PFS can be found as a free download at the following link:

In case you wish to use pregen characters, they can be found at this link:

Since you've mentioned playing through the Beginner's Box, the following link will take you to a downloadable pdf that shows how to bring your Beginner's Box up to PFS standards:

There'll be an upcoming Gameday Meetup for February 4th that you can sign up for, and there's expected to be PFS scenarios available for all timeslots at the meetup. You can find out more info at:

If you have any further questions, please feel free to message me.

Colemanus,

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be running any PF or Pathfinder Society games during the 28th- but if you don't mind waiting until Feb. 4th, there'll be some PFS games offered throughout the day (as well as other RPG games, such as 4th edition and LFR). You can preregister for them over here.
